Once again, it has been a hot, hot minute. Many things have occurred, but I’m going to try to keep this post brief just so that I can teach myself that maybe the journal doesn’t have to be so daunting. It doesn’t have to be massive paragraphs. It can just be a few words about…

So it’s kind of been a hot minute since the last update, once again. To be fair, spring is always a busy, busy time of year, full of deadlines and paperwork and things like taxes, and it tends to eat away at my attention span and raise my cortisol levels and generally make most tasks…

Okay, so coming back here quickly just to add that I may have been completely wildly wrong about Dandadan when I talked it up as some goofy, slapstick masterpiece of humour. Don’t get me wrong. It is. But that was also one hell of a sucker punch episode that we just watched tonight and I…

I began today thinking: “You find yourself at the bottom of a steep cliff in the Peter Griffin death pose. How do you proceed?” Basically I’ve been several flavours of ill over the last few days, from vertigo to migraines to sinus congestion to a misadventure with trying to eat healthy after two weeks of…

Having vertigo issues really costs in mental CPU power, as it turns out. I’ve been slightly dizzy every day since I got back from Vancouver, and while yesterday was probably the worst, today came with the added doozy of a headache that kind of put me horizontal when I got home. It also appears to…

I fully intended to update this sooner, but February, as it turns out, was a busy, busy month! A lot happened, and I’m going to be hard-pressed to remember it all, so I’m giving myself license to come back and edit this post if more memories surface. I suppose this is all the more reason…

Every winter, I either get kept home for a day or two by snow or by illness, and this year it was a head cold that stealthed in looking like allergies and then took me down while I was confused. It was a weird one because my symptoms never got that bad. On Sunday I…

It’s been chilly this week. I’m glad there’s no rain in the forecast until the weekend because that would be snow. I don’t want snow. I kind of oddly miss it sometimes, in that whole “I will probably never again see REAL snow, like deep winter snow” foolish nostalgia kind of way, but ultimately… I…

This year has felt… very haphazard so far. Work is still eating my mental capacity, juggling all of my creative endeavours remains possible (in theory) and yet I haven’t managed the knack of it, yet. I’m writing. Badly. That’s okay, because it’s still writing. I’m not feeling bad about it as a whole because I…

There is no way I’ll be able to get good photos or scans of these that do them justice, but I was fiddling with metallic paint pens tonight.

The rabbit was a quick media test on scrap paper. The other one I’m taking slowly and seriously.

A messily painted dark blue piece with a rabbit and stars drawn in metallic gold and digitally highlighted with dabs of white on the gold lines and a black border around the art. The rabbit looks like its floating or falling through the night sky. An angled photograph of a work in progress painting of Henry, with rabbit ears. Part of the background has been painted gray-blue and the shapes of stars are inked in silver with a touch of black around the edges. There is a DecoColor paint pens visible resting on the paper.

I may have said this before, but I wish there were widely available free access playgrounds that are adult-sized.

I just want some unstructured playtime where I throw myself around like a beanbag.

I do not want a gym membership. I just wanna play and climb.

-_- Should’a worn the questionable bloody Iron Lung t-shirt to the office. My skulls and rib cages button-up was not enough to thwart the photographer on company photo day.

All part of what I’ve termed “releasing myself from the torment nexus”. I have a lot of things I want to do, but I have a hard time finding/justifying/setting aside large swaths of time for any of them.

So instead I’m giving myself permission to do them all in small bursts throughout the day.
